One must learn to control small breezes before dominating the wind. To control a breeze, one must be calm, notice the lightest brush of gust that flows through them, and influence its path. 
Show your character learning this skill: Does it feel natural to alter the course of the breeze? Do they need to meditate first? Do they struggle with controlling something so freeform?
