The beginning of the path of wind...

Details

One must learn to control small breezes before dominating the wind. To control a breeze, one must be calm, notice the lightest brush of gust that flows through them, and influence its path.
Show your character learning this skill: Does it feel natural to alter the course of the breeze? Do they need to meditate first? Do they struggle with controlling something so freeform?

While a breeze is tranquil and inviting, winds can be forceful and fickle. To bend wind to your will, one must be careful to not let it break free or push you in the wrong direction.

Show your character learning more advanced techniques, such as hovering, windstorms, jump boosts, etc. Are they able to keep the wind from dissipating or throwing them off? Do they struggle with controlling the speed they’re going? Do their windstorms fizzle or lose control?

From surfing in the sky with updrafts and creating windstorms, to a deceitfully complex hover that unshackles your body from the earth, the freedom of Gako mastery is a feeling no other Aether can describe.

Show your character mastering this freedom and controlling themselves in the wind created by them. Do they stick close to the ground or dive into the sky? Can they manage their speed and movement?

----

Gako is as much a freeing power as it is a dangerous one. To let a windstorm or a cyclone go astray is a deadly mistake, and one cannot call themselves a master without that control.

Show your character controlling a powerful wind source, of natural origin or created by a teacher/master. Do they struggle with the power of the wind? Are they trying to dissipate the wind or redirecting it to their command? Is it scary or invigorating?

Tumuna is a subtle skill, but not one that should be overlooked. Learning to alter sound waves around you can be harder than it looks, and sometimes you can get the opposite effect. Don't scare yourself with a loud noise!

Show your character trying to alter a sound in any way, from making loud things quiet or quiet things louder, to modifying the way they hear things. Do they struggle with noticing any differences in what they hear? Are they getting opposite results, or do they have an easy time playing around with sounds around them?

Details

Changing every characteristic of a sound wave is a big jump that stumps many Tumuna learners, and so is projecting sound. It's common for an apprentice to create a cacophony of sounds instead of their targeted goal, or to make noises bounce everywhere.

Show your character trying to increase their skill range and manipulate sound in a more granular way. Do they struggle more with the pitch and frequency of waves, or the misdirection of Tumuna? Do they try to make songs, harsh noises, cacophonies, or quiet down a chamber?

Rewards

Details

Mastering Tumuna means mastering every facet of the physics of sound, from how it behaves, to where it comes from, to the ability to hear it. One stops listening to things as just noise and starts to see the complexity and beauty of every sound and how to manipulate that to your advantage.

Show your character manipulating sound in a complex, multi-layered way. How do they create this symphony, and how many things do they alter at once? Are they playing with instruments; shifting, silencing and amplifying their output in unique ways? Do they create an orchestra with just the noises of nature around them? Or do they decide to make things sound like they never could before?

------

Tumuna, being a facet of the Air branch, tends to be classified as a passive, gentle Aether skill. While most Tumuna users don't reach the highest mastery, the ones who do are deceitfully dangerous. The ability to upgrade sound waves into shockwaves is one that comes with much practice, and it cannot be taken lightly.

Show your character taming the power of their sound waves. Do they start from small sound waves that cause small headaches into large, sound breaking shockwaves; or do they show the true strength of Tumuna immediately? Are they doing this in a controlled space, or in an open field with nothing around (other than their targets)?

The path to learn Ignis is not one with violence, but with patience; to channel your Aether into warmth and to sustain the heat from the outside world. New users lusting for power find themselves disappointed to only be able to sway the flickering of a flame or snap small sparks around.

Show your character learning this channeling. Can they feel themselves warming up? Do the heat waves feel more comfortable than oppressive? How easy is it for them to guide a flame, or to call upon sparks from their fingers?

Rewards

Details

For those who approached Ignis with patience and gentleness, power will come. From wavering larger flames and resisting the heat they produce, to heating up the area around them and seeing with full heat vision, Ignis becomes part of its user.

Show your character becoming more involved with the more proactive side of Ignis. How easy is it to maintain larger flames, compared to the small quick sparks of before? When becoming a heat source, do they find it natural, or do they struggle with overheating (or losing body heat)? Does the stronger resistance to the heat and being able to see it clearly invite them to delve deeper? Are they reaching for more power, or something else?

The mastery of Ignis is what many dream of and few reach; the immediate power of total control of fire, shifting it into any shape and size the master desires. Flamethrowers, firewalls, fireballs, explosions -- this is where Ignis earns its destructive and violent fame.

Show your character finally harvesting the full potential of Ignis. Do they revel in the full destructive force of fire, perhaps with a final test in destroying and burning as many targets as they can? Or, do they remember the patience and gentleness that they had to practice before, driving the flames in controlled and restrained power so new life can grow?

----

Becoming one with the flame also means becoming one with the heat it produces. Ignis masters aren't just about offense, but they learn to be resilient, shrugging off burns, smoke, and heat. This mastery doesn't come easily, however.

Show your character's final test of strength versus the harm of fire. Do they go to scorching deserts to tame the heat, the eye of wildfire to be engulfed in flames, or active volcanos to face walls of smoke? Is this a test they're doing alone, or is it with someone's guidance? Do they struggle versus the elements, or does it feel like a second home?

The power of electricity is highly sought after, and unlike its sibling Ignis, it rewards boldness and courage to tame the raw power of the storm. Still, every thunderstorm started as a small spark.

Depict your character trying to channel a small spark. Are they channeling electricity from the air, maybe on a stormy day, or using an object with low voltage? Do they get shocked frequently, and do they feel their immunity building up?

Once you start controlling Hibus, it feels as if more and more of its power attracts itself to the user. The strength of one's skills starts to shine, and they must not shy away from this power, lest they become consumed by the surge building inside them.

This is a pivotal moment. Show your character taking control over the electricity building inside them. Do they try to channel it on a target, hitting until they gain perfect precision and accuracy? Or maybe they learn to calm the storm and bind it to their command.

Controlling Hibus Aether is one thing, but to achieve mastery is to laugh in the face of danger. The jump in power from unlocking the true potential of Hibus is something many dream of, but just as many perish trying to reach those highs. Can your character do it?

Show your character's attempt to control deadly surges of electricity. Whether they're in the eye of the storm or in an electrical reactor, they must resist the fierce shocks and come out unscathed. Do they just try to power through this test of endurance, or do they power themselves up, in a show of mastery?

----

While some view the final hurdle of mastering their Aether with dread, Hibus masters get to experience the euphoria of finally showing everything Hibus can do. It's as much of a test as it is an exhibit of their prowess.

Your character is facing the final challenge, being able to take all this electricity and channel it into powerful, devastating strikes. Do they enjoy the sensation of power, honing until achieving perfection? Do they look for a safe and solemn place to complete their journey of mastery, or do they make sure everyone sees them and what they're able to do?

Tocha is a skill that rewards patience and stability. Earth is a hard thing to connect with, but those who do are greatly rewarded with useful and practical skills, right out of the gate.

Your character must find a way to connect with the earth around them and learn how to use it. Do they stay on the surface, learning how to manipulate the ground and sensing what's under it, or do they take the plunge and start digging, trying to create a more direct connection?

Rewards

Details

With a connection created, one must delve deeper and learn how to manipulate the stubborn ground into a helpful ally. Many learners hit a wall here, but stubbornness of your own will help with this challenge.

Depict your character becoming more entrenched in Tocha skills. Do they start locating items deeper and deeper underground, moving the earth around to help them get to it faster? Are they learning how to start quakes and tremors, instead of moving small pockets of ground?

As one's Tocha skills grow, they become more and more comfortable with exploring and understanding the deeper parts of the earth. It becomes part of yourself, a new home.

Show your character mastering the complex and intricate underground world. Are they able to memorize and map all the tunnels and burrows they've made? Do they dive deeper and discover something special? Perhaps a hidden cave, an underground lake, or a wonderful treasure?

----

Tocha users are seen as passive and practical, but one must not underestimate the combat abilities of a master. The perfected synergy allows them to weaponize earth in thousands of ways.

Show your character learning how to fully make use of the earth around them. Do they indulge in the more powerful combat options of their Aether, constructing defensive walls and impaling spikes? How hard does it feel to move such large amounts of seemingly-unmovable earth? Do they struggle?
