Many find Aes a redundant skill when Tocha exists, but for those that understand the nuance of minerals and metals, Aes is a great ability to train and hone.

Show your character learning about rocks and metals, and how to move and appraise them. Do they study their composition beforehand, trying to find all the bumps and sub-materials in practice? Or are they going in blind; exploring how they're made, and how to mold and move them?

While identifying and bending is useful, many who practice Aes look towards advanced abilities -- finally learning how to alter the rocks and metals they spent time learning about.

Depict your character experimenting and learning how to alter a rock, gem, or metal. Do they go for the state of matter, liquefying and solidifying a metal until precision? Or maybe they try to change the composition; altering its color, characteristics, or even creating something new -- all from a few modifications.

Mastering Aes asks you to have complete control of the object you're working with; to bend and shape it however you want, and to alter how it behaves and looks. It's a highly impressive and sought after skill, but it’s difficult to master.

Your character must show the ability to alter a mineral or metal however they want. Size, shape, color, state of matter: any characteristic is free for the taking of an Aes master. Do they play with multiple materials, or are they picking one single base and creating various unique outcomes? Are they interested in the artistic, artisanal design? Or is this just a proof of concept?

----

If you asked a layman what's the best skill of an Aes master, they would probably reply with the ability to turn any one material into a completely different one. Labeled the skill of Alchemy by some, its high skill floor doesn't deter learners from practicing and honing their Aes mastery until perfection.

From one base, show your character creating various new materials. Do they pick a common rock, or something else? What items are they transforming it into? Precious gems, valuable metals, unique rocks? Do they have difficulties with the transformation into some materials compared to others? How many do they make before feeling like they reached the peak?

Learning how to control water is more complicated than it looks. The flowing currents don't stop for anyone, and water is fickle and hard to grasp. Even so, Nam finds itself as one of the more popular Aether branches to learn.

Depict your character trying to alter the flow of water. Are they trying to stop a current and make swimming easier, or maybe strengthen it to speed up their travel? Perhaps they're trying to raise, move, or channel water somewhere else, from the origin to a target, or to themselves?

The more advanced one becomes with their control of water, the better they can control where it goes and fight against it. However, most users prefer to fight alongside where the flow of water takes them, or create their own current if the present doesn't favor them.

Show your character learning to control water with more precision. Are they creating new, stronger currents and performing swimming maneuvers, such as diving and breaking the surface? Do they train to create small waves and surf in them? Or are they maneuvering water on dry land, trying to capture the water molecules in air to juggle and dance with?

Even for those who practiced their Nam skills on land, there comes a time where they must dive. Controlling water is only part of the path; being submerged and surrounded, becoming one with it, is essential for a well rounded master. Many resurface, scared of drowning, but those who succeed will never see swimming the same again.

Your character must take the plunge. What place do they pick? A river, a lake, the ocean? Why? How does it feel to let themselves sink? Do they fear drowning, focusing on holding their breath; or are they tranquil and peaceful, letting their Aether do the work and relaxing as they drift under the current?

----

A small wave or a normal current are nothing to be feared, but they can quickly spiral and become more and more powerful. Similarly, learners build upon the strength of their casting and control, and the finish line comes with crashing tsunamis and powerful whirlpools.

Show your character creating and controlling water in powerful, grandiose ways. Do they stand on the surface of the water while forming whirlpools and waves, or are they riding them all the way, shifting the direction as they please? Does the water show resistance, and do they fear being overwhelmed? Are they doing this in a body of water, or channeling water from the air, other beings, and themselves to perform these feats?

The cold is a harsh, scary condition for many, but it's also a fascinating and beautiful environment for others. To learn to appreciate and survive its harshest givings means to see its most stunning fruits.

Your character needs to learn how to resist and survive alongside the cold. Do they seek a snowy environment to start training, adapting to the freezing temperatures and attempting to control the snow, or are they in a cold artificial area? How does it feel to have chills running down their spine, to feel their breath condensing and their movements slow?

Once you become adapted to the cold, new paths open to what you can do with Gero. Moving and shaping snow, freezing water and cooling things are all at an arms length, but once must keep training to resist the new challenges they face when dealing with even more extreme temperatures, otherwise it can all backfire.

Show your character making use of Gero in more expanded ways. Are they freezing water in lakes to create small paths? Shaping ice and snow in more honed ways? Or do they try and cool areas that aren't freezing already, creating their own snowy sphere? Do they feel frostbite crawling as they practice, and how do they resist it?

Some say, to become a master of Gero, one must become winter itself. While this is an exaggeration, the abilities of a master are still impressive: to freeze entire areas, bring snow where you enter, and channel all you create into whatever you desire.

Depict your character channeling snow or ice in a large quantity. Do they freeze a lake or a river, and decide to manipulate that ice? Are they summoning a snowstorm or hail by freezing the water in the air, or creating it by themselves? Do they struggle with controlling so much of the cold all at once, without letting it take over or spiral out of control?

----

While it’s considered reckless by some, Gero students view the survival in and exploration of an area colder than anything as a rite of passage. Just like Nam masters must let themselves be submerged, they too must let the elements take over them, and learn to thrive from it.

Show your character in an extremely cold area. Do they pick a mountain, or perhaps a glacier? Do they focus on survival, not wanting to freeze to death; or are they exploring, letting the cold take them where they must go? Does it feel as though their Aether is freezing from the inside, and does it bring pride -- or apprehension? Are they changed from this?
